Winter 2025-26

I had a CT in December to once again not show any major changes. Some new shadowing, some improved. No one able to determine what’s happening.

Good that there was little change! Bad that we still don’t have definitive answers. So I put in my request! Winter was beginning to settle in, I physically can not handle the cold and I’m tired. Tired of test after test, appointment after appointment with the same results…..wait and see. My request, I need a winter break from everything, well, almost everything.

So we all agreed that taking a break, waiting until April for my next bloodwork, CT, oncologist and internist appointments was reasonable. I still kept in contact with my cancer center doctor to monitor things, had an echocardiogram and respiratory test as I’d had another night of symptoms that could have possibly pointed to my second silent heart attack. But other than that, I had a beautiful winter. Enjoyed watching the snow from inside with our cozy wood stove and my electric blanket.

Psalms 74:16-17 NLT
[16] Both day and night belong to you; you made the starlight and the sun. [17] You set the boundaries of the earth, and you made both summer and winter.

How are things going? I’ve actually been feeling pretty good. My feeding tube site would not close, after several weeks of trying everything and dealing with lots of leakage and mess, I gave up and now have a small button feeding tube. It has stopped alot of the mess but needs a size adjustment to fit a bit more snug and leak less. My hands are often still very painful, especially the ulcers that did require a round of antibiotics this winter, which also treated a UTI. My stomach has been working fairly well actually. My weight is still fluctuating a bit as I often have stretches of days, where food does not digest and I’m plagued with bloating, nausea and vomiting. Always lots of fun. But I’ve also had days of eating well, digesting properly and even feeling hungry. My weight was actually up at my appointment last week, 48Kg. We shall see what April brings, if everything on the inside is doing as well as I feel on the outside.

I now laugh at how hard I worked to get my weight down over the years. How many wasted hours on fad diets and TONS of exercise. Just a word of wisdom, enjoy the meal, including dessert and don’t worship exercise! Not encouraging laziness or gluttony  but I see SO many focusing, in an unhealthy way, on diet and exercise. Stop chasing a certain weight or clothing size. Being skinny is no fun!

Jeff and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary and I my 48th birthday in December.

We had a beautiful Christmas and birthday season with our crew. From Christmas tree hunting, cookie making, lots of delicious meals and several birthday celebrations. There is nothing better than having all of our children and grandchildren together. I don’t care what we’re doing, together is my happy place.

Our children thoroughly enjoyed all the snow and especially skating on our pond this winter. We enjoyed a swim at St.Anne’s pool.

Our oldest grandbaby had her first sleepover with us and loved it. Our 5th grandbaby had his 1st birthday. We had our precious 6th grandbaby boy born and learned that precious grandbaby #7 will make his/her arrival in October! This baby will break the boy/girl tie! We are beyond blessed with all these little ones.

4-H is getting underway with club and county tallies. We have one moving on to regionals,  hosted in Yarmouth, this year. Lumbersports is just getting started also. One of our children’s favorite 4-H activities.

We’ve been having an excellent school year, with only 8 weeks left of our main curriculum until summer break.

Looking forward to celebrating Easter with my family before my next onslaught of tests and appointments.

The Lord holds the future in His hands. 83 borrowed days behind me. December 26th, 2025 was my 5 year survival date. Counting every single day, whether good or bad, as a huge blessing!

Please continue to pray for me, for our family, for upcoming tests.
