Zometa : Take Two

Last Monday morning, November 1st, I had my second Zometa infusion. This helps to strengthen my bones. My first dose, in the summer, unexpectedly knocked me down pretty hard. Prepping for this dose made a huge difference.

We were beyond blessed with meals for lunch and supper all week! We cannot say thank you enough or put into words how very helpful this was! THANK YOU precious friends!❤

Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.
Hebrews 13:1 NIV

Also having our little girls visiting with our amazing friends was super helpful!❤ They had so much fun while allowing me to rest and big kids to help around the house more and get school done.

My third dose is scheduled for late January 2022.

And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.
2 Thessalonians 3:13 NIV

Having a regular pain med helped alot with the side effects from this second round. It was so much easier. I still had a fever, muscle aches and exhaustion but on a much milder level than the first time, MUCH more tolerable. Very thankful for this!

I also saw my oncologist on Friday, November 5th. I once again had a hard time with being back on a full 100mg cycle of Ibrance, that finished on October 31st. Exhaustion came back full force, more joint aches and my hands getting even worse. My red blood count also dropped a bit. So we are adjusting again. I’m dropping to 75mg of Ibrance and will be trying 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off, beginning November 15th. There are no real scientific studies showing the results of such alternative schedules so it is really a trial and error game from here on out. Trying to balance effectively keeping the cancer cells from growing while allowing me to live as normal a life as possible. My next CT will be early January to see how things are going. Continued prayers for more improvement and no progression is so appreciated.

I’m part of a FB group of women that have metastatic breast cancer that are receiving the same types of medications I take. There are over 3,000 members. It is heartbreaking to know so many of us are fighting, on this same journey but also encouraging to have others share how well they are doing, how some of these gentler schedules have worked for them, some for several years now. Giving hope to me and others earlier on in this journey.

This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.
Revelation 14:12 NIV

We were able to enjoy a walk at Pubnico Point with our homeschool group. I got my new walking sticks just in time for this walk! They work great and will hopefully prevent another fall.

We got our greenhouse all cleaned, organized and ready for winter.

I needed Sunday morning to recoup from the day before so we could enjoy lunch and a doughnut making party with our kids! They were SO yummy and so much fun to do together! Thinking this will become an annual event! Thank you to our sweet neighbour that shared her delicious recipe last year!😋

We made about 8dzn doughnuts!😜
Piper enjoyed doughnut making day too!🐕🐶
Cinnamon sugar was a favorite!🍩

Mark 10:9 NIV

We also added a new family member yesterday! Sweet little baby Gidget is so calm and sweet! She fits right in and enjoys all the snuggles!🥰🐇🐰

She has the cutest little white spot on her black nose!😍

Continued prayers for healing are so appreciated. Specifically for my hands. With continued deterioration, everyday things get a little bit harder again. I would love full recovery of their use or at least for the damage to them to stop so I can adjust life.😔

Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
Acts 4:30 NIV

  1. Thank you again for your faith-filled sharing of your journey and your beautiful family. I continue to pray for you and especially for your hands. I hope you know that while we are praying for you, you are a blessing to us . You mentioned in the previous post how heavy the world is at this time. You and your family are a light in the darkness. May God bless you with healing and His peace.
    Love from Elizabeth 💕🙏🏻💕🙏🏻💕🙏🏻
