Exhaustion at it’s Finest

Have you ever been so tired that your whole body ached, your mind ached, tears flowed, just from being utterly tired? That’s me right now. But it is absolutely the best and most worth it tired I’ve ever felt. Kind like having a newborn in the house. Lol Tired but beyond blessed.

Let my soul be at rest again, for the Lord has been good to me.
Psalms 116:7 NLT

All has been quiet for me on the medical front except for a pesky UTI that loves to show up any time it feels like it. So we decided a mini family vacation was much needed. We had planned to do this back at Christmas time. So we bought less stuff and put it into making memories together.

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31 NLT

We, as a family, had not spent a night away from home since before covid hit, back in the fall of 2019. It felt weird and refreshing all at the same time.

We spent 3 nights, 4 days away and every single one was packed full from breakfast at the hotel to swimming until the pool closed at 10pm. 11pm was the normal bedtime for all except the 2 year old, who crashed on our bed sooner. We need two rooms, the boys got one to themselves and then the girls, Jeff and I had a suite to fit us all. It was wonderful.

I had organized an itinerary for each day and it went really well. Museums, shopping and eating out each day.

Day 1 was Costco for snacks, Fabricville, Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Skip the Dishes supper and hotel swimming.

Day 2 was The Discovery Center, Bass Pro Shop, Pladium, supper and hotel pool.

Day 3 was The Natural History Museum, shopping at a few stores, Hop, Skip, Jump & Putting Edge, Skip the Dishes supper, Captured Escape rooms for bigs & hotel pool for littles.

Day 4 was a lovely snow storm but we made it to Halifax Shopping Center and a full Costco run before a 4 hour drive home.

Coming home on the weekend meant more important outings, more exhaustion but again worth every minute.

We had our 4-H club speech and demonstration rally on Saturday. We ended the day with 3 children moving to county level. Two with their senior double demo, one with her speech and another came a close second with his heart touching senior speech against a large number of competitors. So proud of all four of these children. So thankful for a normally run 4-H year.

A most perfect ending to our non-stop 6 days was a gender reveal party for our second grand-baby! We have a second girl due in June! Such a blessing!

On Friday morning, as we were packing up our hotel room on that snowy blustery day, I got the call for my Hickman line! Nervous and excited. It is being placed Thursday, March 2nd.

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28 NLT

Please pray for my recovery both from our vacation and from my Hickman line placement.

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT
