It’s Been Awhile

I hadn’t realized how long it’s been since I blogged last until more than a few people have mentioned missing it.

I’ve been tired most evenings, when I’d normally write, so it’s been put off longer and longer.

Each day is full, especially with homeschooling. If it isn’t school then it’s medical appointments (and most often it’s both). I don’t know that I’ve had a week without some kind of appointment, test or infusion. It makes for lots of juggling and lots of expended energy, that I don’t always have to spare. I believe I’ve shared it before, parenting from a chair is super tough.

“Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered— how fleeting my life is.
Psalms 39:4 NLT

Our family has had a busy couple of months. We celebrated our miracle girl’s 12th birthday. We visited Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens, Port Royal & Fort Anne on a day trip to Annapolis Royal. I got to enjoy a walk on the beach in a special wheelchair. We had a fun weekend in Windsor with 4 children, 2 rabbits, 2 cows and lots of tug of war for 4-H Provincial Weekend. Had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner all together. Celebrated our middle son’s 18th birthday. Enjoyed a fun fall day at Oaklawn Farm Zoo and Greenwood. A fun filled year end 4-H Award Banquet and a cozy Halloween at home, with movie and treat. But most exciting is the beginning of something that’s been several months in the making…………

An addition to our home. A new handicap master bedroom and bathroom. This will save me trips on the stairs at night, making life so much safer and easier for me. Even with my chair lift, it is tricky to navigate trips to the bathroom at night. I can not even begin to share how crazy of an adventure this has been. The amount of paperwork, red tape and hoops we’ve had to jump through is mind boggling and has been exhausting in itself. Half of this project is being covered by a grant, with us covering the other half. If it had not been such a significant help, we would have given up long ago.

For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 NLT

But God’s timing and orchestrating of everything once final approval happened is equally crazy and absolutely amazing. God has placed the most beautiful people in our lives.

Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Psalms 103:1 NLT

Footings and a new walkway are now poured and the foundation walls are going up.

Would so appreciate prayers over this project, that it could be completed or at least closed in before winter comes.

My health……the good…… the UTI’s have stayed away, my iron has been good and I gained 5lbs in one month. The bad…… my stomach continues to choose which days it will digest and which days it won’t, my bowels are also affected on random days both of which make for many uncomfortable days (with vomiting and diarrhea sprinkled in unexpectedly). Aside from my one month of gaining weight (which we’re very thankful for, excited about and hope continues) my weight loss continues to be something we need to take very seriously. Talks of tube feeding have happened but it is something I so desperately want to avoid. It will be put on hold as long as I can continue to gain weight. Please pray to that effect alongside us. We are now trying digestive enzymes to see if they’ll help but they take several weeks to work, to know their affects, so time will tell.

I will try to update sooner next time. Thank you to those praying for us and to those that help us, we couldn’t make life work without you.

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
Galatians 6:9 NLT
